CALIFORNIA'S FIRST "SUPER TUSCAN"

In 1989, George Bursick launched Sienna at Ferrari-Carano — a Sonoma Super Tuscan blending Sangiovese, Cabernet, and Merlot. It was among the first wines of its kind produced in California.

"It's a Sonoma Super Tuscan," says George. "Sangiovese, Cabernet, Merlot. It took off right at release and has been very popular ever since."

The wine demonstrated that California's diverse terroir and innovative winemaking could produce world-class blends inspired by Italian tradition while expressing a distinctly Californian character.
